Trial license ExaGear Desktop on RPI3

Postby coustou » Fri Nov 03, 2017 7:52 am

Hello! I tried exagear on RPi3. But unfortunately, I had to reinstall image (trial period is not expired). I tried to get new trial license key but exagear told me:
Code: Select all
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ exagear
trial_requester: Hardware already trialled
Failed to issue trial key

So I couldn't try it before buy.

I have the same problem, every time I run Exagear, it opens the screen asking: name, surname and email to activate the trail version.

I did not use this device, I just installed it and tried to run it once.

Any information would help.

Given the error message "HW already trialled", we may assume ExaGear is calling some internal hardcoded serial ID
from the RasPi to assign one trial per board.

If the user types in the following in the terminal:
cat/ proc/cpuinfo |grep Serial

we obtain the 16 hex digits serial number that is assigned randomly by the hardware RNG during production testing.
Albeit it is very improbable, there is always the possibility of a collision where two RasPi will have the same ID.

Now, reduce the pool of RasPi users toying with ExaGear Desktop, that makes it even more improbable. However,
if that ever occurred two RasPi units had the same ID, another user might have used up the trial unbeknownst of the
second owner.

Again, these are speculations...and not really a solution. Only ExaGear employees would know what to do.
