Pi 3 & Skype & Pulseaudio (Setup)

Pi 3 & Skype & Pulseaudio (Setup)

Postby Gerry_123 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 12:39 pm

Hello,
May I ask if "anyone" has sucessfully got Raspberry "Pi 3" & "2017-04-10-raspbian-jessie" & Exagear to work with Skype ?
If they have I would appreciate, but do not expect the how-to.

I have tried five re-formatting sd-card sessions (over 2 full days) starting from scratch, with the constant problem of (a) skype showing only a virtual device under audio settings (b) skype seeing pulseaudio, but no sound - this was further verified by mplayer or (c) Skype working but the sound dying after 20 seconds of a skype call.

* I followed the instructions posted by eltechs precisely.
* I uninstalled & reinstalled pulseaudio repeatedly.
* Each time I checked with mplayer using sample audio both using pulseaudio & ALSA. The problem followed pulseaudio after the exagear/skype installation.
* Hardware - Logitech C920 webcam & both audio (out) & video via HDMI.

Thanks in desperation & frustration...

Hello!
Please apply the following patch and check if this helps you to overcome the issues.

1. Please download exagear-dsound-server package:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0EHh0 ... sp=sharing

2. Install downloaded package on the host ARM system on top of previously installed ExaGear packages:
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i exagear-dsound-server_003_armhf.deb

3. Reboot your device.

4. Install and run pavucontrol on the host ARM system:
Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get install pavucontrol
$ pavucontrol

In GUI window you should see: bcm2835 ALSA Analog Stereo

5. Run paplay on the host ARM system:
Code: Select all
$ paplay --raw /dev/urandom

You should hear the noise.

6. After that you can enter the guest x86 system and install Skype:
Code: Select all
$ exagear
$ sudo apt-get update
$ wget http://download.skype.com/linux/skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb; sudo apt-get install -f

Run Skype from the Raspbian Start menu.
