COM serial port through USB

COM serial port through USB

Postby a.p.lorenz » Thu Jun 14, 2018 7:11 am

I have installed Exagear on my raspberry pi b+ to be able to run the u-center software. The installation of both Exagear and u-center went smooth, and the latter seems to work perfectly on Wine. But when I tried to connect the u-blox GPS module via USB to my raspberry, the u-center software failed to recognize any connected device.

As far as I understand (I'm a total beginner), the GPS module connects to a Windows environment through a virtual COM port via USB, and that's what I pretend to emulate on Wine. To do so, I try to create several serial ports in ~/.wine/dosdevices/, with the following instructions:

ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1

ln -s /dev/ttyS0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com5

The ports are apparently succesfully created, but still, the u-center software emulated on Wine fails to recognize any device when I plug the GPS module.

Any solution? I really appreciate any help you can provide.
